With the vision of generating relevant transformations
in community children and adolescents’ realities
and considering private social investment an inseparable
part of a regional development strategy, Arcor
Group created in May 2004 Arcor Brazil
Institute.
Thus, the company continues taking responsibility
over social compromise as a characteristic of
its way of acting, as well as formally structuring
activities that had been Developed by the Social
responsibility Area of the company in Brazil.
The experience and modality of the activities
developed for 13 years by Arcor Foundation in
Argentina, considered as a qualified model of
private social investment, constituted the basis
to shape the Institute, whose mission is:
“To promote equality
of opportunities by means of educational programs
of integral development and social inclusion,
having as its main target: children and adolescents,
through the support of self-sustainable projects.”

The
Programs
Arcor Brazil Institute carries
out its own Programs
and others in Alliances.
Own Programs:
1 – Life, Light and Sound Program:
This Project is the result of the joint activities
among Arcor, Arcor Brazil Institute, city hall
departments, health and commercial area professionals.
Created in 2003, in the city of Río das
Pedras, São Paulo, the program allows the
access to exams that identify sight and hearing
problems and improve children’s hygiene
and health conditions, thus, improving 1st to
4th grade poor children entrance to school and
learning.
2 - Sweet Arcor Program
The Program promotes the donation of products
to needy communities mainly those communities
where the company’s industrial plants are
installed.
My School Grows Program
This Program was born at the end of 2003, replicating
its experience in Argentina. It has as its objective,
by means of an annual summon to a contest, to
support small projects in public schools and to
promote the mobilization of coordinators and educators
by training them in the elaboration of projects.

Programs
Developed with Alliances:
Fund “Together
for Education”
This is the result of an Alliance constituted
in August 2004 between Vitae Foundation, C&A
Institute and Arcor Brazil Institute with the
purpose of giving continuity to the Complementary
Educational Program for Needy Children and Adolescents
whose age range from 7 to 16, carried out by Fundación
Vitae during 6 years.
World Childhood
Foundation
World Childhood Foundation Brazil promotes the
development of initiatives that may target children
and youngsters who may have been deprived from
their essential rights.
By means of a three -year alliance between WCF
and Arcor do Brazil , they support projects that
may have as their objectives to offer better living
conditions to children and adolescents who are
prone to violence, abuse or sexually exploitation
in Brazil.

Environmental Responsibility
Sea Friends Program
The Sea Friends Campaign is an environmental education
initiative for the conservation of the sea turtle
and water life in general. It was launched by Arcor
do Brazil in 2003, in association with TamaIbama
Project.
With the purpose of raising awareness as regards
the protection of the specie, Taminha Turtle was
born, a chocolate with the shape of a sea turtle.
The project provided the Tamar- Ibama a fixed monthly
donation for the maintenance of its site in Ubatuba,
Sao Paulo, and Arcor do Brazil allots 2% of the
monthly sales of the Tortuguita Taminha product.
Likewise, the Tamar-Ibama Project invests in environmental
education and in the social of fishermen and inhabitants
of the nearby villages.
The Project is, also, composed of various educational
activities, such as:
1) School Program Sea Friends
By means of this Program a web page for teachers
was developed with environmental education content,
an image bank, as well as books references and webs
on the environment.
2) Cultural Contest
Through this contest, which has already developed
two instances, children are summoned to present
pictures on the issue “Our always clean Waters”.
The Works are analyzed by a jury integrated by educators
and the winner is granted with an award to Environmental
Education, “Sea Friends”.
3) Sea Friends Community
Especially targeted to children, the “ Sea
Friends” community was created, having as
its meeting point www.taminha.com.br
in the web. This web site counts with a visual language
that suits its visitors, as well as with information
on sea waters and the conservation of sea turtles
so as to stimulate net surfing.
